“Tough decisions”: Meffert’s take on HSV’s competitive struggles
Former HSV sports director Dietmar Beiersdorfer has said that the club needs to make “tough decisions” if they want to improve their competitive position.
HSV have struggled in recent years, finishing in the bottom half of the Bundesliga table for the past three seasons. They are currently 16th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.
Beiersdorfer, who was HSV’s sports director from 2015 to 2018, said that the club needs to be more ruthless in their decision-making if they want to improve.
“You can’t avoid making tough decisions if you want to change something,” Beiersdorfer said in an interview with Sport Bild.
“HSV needs to make some tough decisions in the next few weeks and months. They need to decide what kind of club they want to be and what their goals are. And then they need to make the decisions that will help them achieve those goals.”
Beiersdorfer did not specify what kind of decisions HSV should make, but he said that the club needs to be “brave” and “willing to take risks.”
“HSV has a lot of potential, but they need to be brave and make some tough decisions,” Beiersdorfer said.
“They need to be willing to take risks and make changes. If they do that, then I think they can be successful again.”
