The Celtics Defeat the Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals
Kristaps Porzingis Returns to the Boston Lineup
The Celtics took a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals on Tuesday night with a 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Kristaps Porzingis returned to the Boston lineup after missing the last two games with a calf injury.
Porzingis finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds in his return. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 28 points, while Jaylen Brown added 24 points. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 26 points, but he shot just 9-of-24 from the field.
The Celtics led by as many as 29 points in the third quarter, but the Mavericks cut the lead to 9 in the fourth quarter. However, the Celtics were able to hold on for the victory.
Game 2 of the NBA Finals will be played in Boston on Thursday night.
