McCollum, Williamson Lead New Orleans to Victory
New Orleans, LA - October 25, 2023
In a highly entertaining matchup, the New Orleans Pelicans emerged victorious against the Memphis Grizzlies, 111-104, at the Smoothie King Center. CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson led the way for the Pelicans, combining for 47 points.
McCollum, the All-Star guard, orchestrated the offense with precision, finishing with 24 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds. Meanwhile, Williamson, the reigning Rookie of the Year, showcased his athleticism and power, contributing 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Grizzlies made a valiant effort, but the Pelicans' balanced attack proved too much to overcome. Brandon Clarke led Memphis with 20 points, while Ja Morant added 17 points and 8 assists. Despite their efforts, the Grizzlies struggled to find consistency from beyond the arc, shooting just 23.8% from three-point range.
The victory marks the Pelicans' fifth straight win and extends their record to 7-3 on the season. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, drop to 5-5 as they head into a tough stretch of upcoming games.
The two teams will face off again on December 19th in Memphis.
