Club Brugge Extends Lead at Top of Belgian Pro League with 2-0 Victory over Standard Liège

Club Brugge KV continued their impressive start to the Belgian Pro League season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Standard Liège on Saturday.
The hosts dominated from the start and took the lead in the 25th minute when Ferran Jutglà headed home a cross from Tajon Buchanan. Standard Liège struggled to create any clear-cut chances and Brugge doubled their lead just before half-time when Andreas Skov Olsen slotted home a penalty after Buchanan was fouled in the box.
Standard Liège came out with more purpose in the second half, but Brugge remained defensively solid and never looked like conceding. The win moves Brugge five points clear at the top of the table, while Standard Liège remain in sixth place.
Club Brugge will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table when they travel to face Genk next weekend, while Standard Liège will be hoping to bounce back when they host Anderlecht.
