HELLAS VERONA - TORINO FC: SERIE A - ITALY

Hellas Verona Draw Torino to Maintain Unbeaten Home Run

Hellas Verona extended their impressive unbeaten home run in Serie A to five matches after drawing 1-1 against Torino at the Stadio Marc'antonio Bentegodi on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023.

The Gialloblu took the lead early in the second half through a fine individual effort from Darko Lazovic, but Torino fought back to earn a share of the spoils thanks to a fine strike from substitute Yann Karamoh late on.

Lazovic Gives Verona The Lead

Verona started the match brightly and should have taken the lead in the first half when Kevin Lasagna was played through on goal, but he fired wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.

The hosts continued to press after the break and were rewarded for their persistence when Lazovic picked up the ball on the left wing and drove into the Torino box before firing into the bottom corner.

Karamoh Rescues A Point For Torino

Torino responded well to going behind and created a number of chances to equalize, but they were unable to find a way past Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo until Karamoh struck in the 84th minute.

The French forward received the ball on the edge of the area and turned his marker before firing a low shot into the bottom corner to earn Torino a point.

What Does The Result Mean?

The draw leaves Verona 12th in the Serie A standings, while Torino remain 10th.

Verona will be pleased to have extended their unbeaten home run, but they will be disappointed not to have taken all three points against a Torino side who are struggling for form.

Torino, meanwhile, will be relieved to have earned a point away from home, but they will know that they need to start picking up wins if they want to challenge for a top-half finish.
