Udoka suspended for violating team policies

The Boston Celtics are reportedly set to hire Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Ime Udoka as their new head coach, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Udoka will replace Ime Udoka, who was suspended for the entire 2022-23 season for violating team policies.

Udoka, 45, has been an assistant coach with the Nets since 2021. He previously served as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers.

Udoka played 12 seasons in the NBA as a power forward and center. He was a member of the Detroit Pistons' 2004 NBA championship team.

The Celtics are coming off a season in which they reached the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games.

Udoka will be tasked with leading the Celtics back to the NBA Finals and winning the franchise's 18th NBA championship.
